I found the beginning of this book very intriguing. Heartfelt story about grandfather, young woman chasing her dream, and then finding her soul mate. Then this is where the story lost me. Loved the time travel, but did not like the character change that took place, she went from sweet and naive, to strong but arrogant. Then after finding her soul mate,, she travels again in time to find another soul mate, while still having this soul mate. I think my problem is I have been blessed in my life to have truly found my soul mate, he could not be so easily replaced by another, no matter what time I jumped into. The story got very confusing for me in the latter chapters, and though I finished the book,I will confess,I skimmed pages, which I usually do not do. In short, loved the story line, the beginning, did not like the strange twists in the middle. But that is just me.Product details

First off, do not give up on this book if you get confused for awhile. This book is a little slow and confusing at first but the last third of it brings everything together and rounds it out nicely. I'm definitely anxious for the next in the series!
This book has an interesting concept. It would be better if the author were less redundant in the romance and sex scenes. All in all though, not a bad story.
This book simply has it all. From the opening pages, we are thrust into the life of heroine Isobel. We first see her being strong in the face of adversity... a theme that resonates for her throughout the story. Staring loss in the face, she stands, walks out proudly, and stumbles into a destiny that will test who she is at her core. I laughed. I cried. I was happy for her. I was furious at her. I have never pulled for and cussed at a character so much in my life.
Time travel can be a tricky "image" to move from pen on paper into our fantasies, and Kat nailed it. The deep descriptions makes you feel like you're standing in the Brodie castle as one of the guests.
A love story that will stretch your imagination and your beliefs to new depths, if you allow. And the love scenes between heroines and alphas will leave you scanning the pages to get to the next scene. Or, rereading those scenes over and over again. It's not your normal love story. It's some hot scorching sex that is beautifully laid out before you. If you're looking for morals and virginity then perhaps a book from the Christian bookstore would be more fitting.
I find it hard to differ between being able to believe in time travel, yet getting hung up on a simple language barrier. Isobel is cast into a world where she has to learn a foreign language, and she has to teach a foreign language to be able to communicate. Anyone here ever seen Dances With Wolves? Remember the movie and how in just a matter of minutes Kevin Costner is repeating "Tatonka" (not sure if that's proper spelling)? And who with kids has seen Tarzan and the way he start imitating Jane within 10 seconds of having met her? Kat, in my opinion, did a superb job of having the heroine learning and teaching new languages in a matter of a few pages. If you're going to get caught up on how quick someone learned a language and view that as "unbelievable" while enjoying the journey through time travel. Then you won't get the fullness this book has to offer. Writers don't have the benefit of a visual on screen aide to assist in their time sequences. And noone wants to read a 700 page book so that 20 chapters can be dedicated to language development.
If you love heroines that are strong and independent, alphas who dominate and only show their weaknesses to one, sex scenes that put you right in the bed with them, love stories that challenge you to love deeper and be more open, then this book is for you. It is action packed from the first few pages and it unfolds in teasingly good fashion.
My best advice...don't pick your favorite alpha too soon. Just when you think you have a favorite...another one tugs at your heart. Buy this book for all your friends and enjoy a love story unlike any ever told.

Other than the great and frequent sex this book had little to recommend it. If I have to see "smirk" again, I'll scream!
I get the time travel angle, just not multiple times with the heroine being the only one to be able to do so or conveniently influence clan leaders, who fall desperately in love with but are willing to share, while she shapes history and "saves" those worlds/times. It's a bit more fantasy than I'm willing to swallow. The historical and anthropological aspects are interesting but tend to contradict the very things the author employs in her fantasy. I like the idea of female heroines, but I think the author lost credibility trying to give her credit for too much. I had the same problem with the Auel series.
This book is not a vague shadow of what Outlander was. It is an insult to compare them. Yes, there are Highlanders and time travel but those are the only similarities. This book seemed like a cheap gimmick with no real story. The sex was not sexy and felt obligatory. The time travel didn't feel rooted in any kind of believable story line. The characters were one dimensional with no real chemistry. I felt I wasted my time and money on fluff. I have read much better authors in the fluff genre if that is what you are looking for, such as Paula Quinn and Julie Garwood. I do not recommend and will not purchase this author again. Forgettable...
I can't wait to read more from this author! This book had me "caught" right from the get-go. Just as soon as I thought I knew where the story was going, there was a shift and a surprise, and a new direction.
Time travel fascinates me, and time traveling "at will" between two periods of time that are 1,000 years apart is an amazing concept that the author uses skillfully and without being ridiculous. It was a glimpse into two very unique, yet related, periods of history. The characters were well developed and likeable (well, except for the ones you weren't supposed to like anyway!).
Kudos to Ms. Bastion! Write more! Keep up this theme!
